Jefferson’s Tropics Aged in Humidity is a unique addition to the Jefferson’s Bourbon portfolio, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovative aging techniques. Released in September 2023, this straight bourbon whiskey is distilled in Kentucky at an undisclosed distillery and bottled at 104 proof. While the exact mashbill and age statement remain undisclosed, it adheres to the minimum four-year aging requirement for straight bourbon. What sets Jefferson’s Tropics apart is its extraordinary aging journey. In July 2019, 720 barrels of fully matured Kentucky bourbon were shipped to Singapore, where they were exposed to the region’s intense heat and humidity for 18 months. Singapore’s tropical rainforest climate, with its consistently high humidity and temperatures, created an environment that accelerated the interaction between the bourbon and the barrel, resulting in a deeply caramelized spirit. The barrels returned to Kentucky in March 2023, where Jefferson’s founder Trey Zoeller selected the final blend and proof. This bourbon is part of Jefferson’s broader exploration of aging conditions, following their well-known Ocean Aged at Sea series.
