The Distillery Story
Jeptha Creed Distillery, located in Shelbyville, Kentucky, is a family-owned operation that combines traditional farming with innovative distilling practices. Founded by the Nethery family, the distillery takes its name from the nearby Jeptha Knob, a historic landmark in the Bluegrass Region. The Netherys are committed to a “ground-to-glass” philosophy, growing many of their ingredients on their own farm, including their signature heirloom Bloody Butcher corn. This non-GMO variety, known for its red color and challenging cultivation, sets their spirits apart. Jeptha Creed produces a range of spirits, including bourbon, vodka, and moonshine. Their bourbon, distilled from Bloody Butcher corn, reflects their dedication to crafting unique, high-quality products. The distillery also offers flavored vodkas, such as blueberry and honey, and moonshine varieties like blackberry and apple pie. Future plans include producing fruit brandies using ingredients grown on-site. As the first legal distillery in Shelby County since Prohibition, Jeptha Creed honors Kentucky’s rich distilling heritage while embracing modern techniques. With on-site barrel barns and plans for expanded farm operations, the distillery offers a comprehensive visitor experience, including tours of their distillation process and farm. Jeptha Creed’s commitment to authenticity and sustainability makes it a standout in the craft spirits industry.
