The Distillery Story

Located in the Circle City Industrial Complex in Indianapolis, 8th Day Distillery is where craftsmanship meets community. Founded in 2015 by brothers Matt and Mason Lamping, the distillery was born out of a shared passion for creating top-quality, locally-sourced spirits with an emphasis on enjoying life without regrets—a philosophy inspired by their conversational dream of how they’d spend an "8th day" in the week. Using a hand-crafted approach, 8th Day Distillery combines traditional distillation techniques with a modern flair. Their copper still "Gertie," lovingly named after their grandmother, produces a range of expertly curated spirits, including their signature gin and rum, as well as bourbon, vodka, and more. Each spirit comes with detailed tasting notes, offering enthusiasts a deeper appreciation of flavor. What truly sets 8th Day apart is its indie spirit and dedication to community. From custom artist-featured bottles to quarterly rotating art displays and partnerships with local businesses for pop-up events, they’ve made their tasting room a hub of creativity and connection. Visitors are welcomed to relax in a chic, industrial-style bar, sip on classic cocktails, and even meet the distillery dog, Dottie.
